Principal Designer
(CDM 2015)
Under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, the Principal Designer plays a critical role in managing health and safety risks during the preconstruction phase of a project.
Fairway Building Consultancy provides Principal Designer services for a wide range of refurbishment, remediation, and construction projects, ensuring that foreseeable risks are identified, eliminated, or controlled at the earliest possible stage.
We act as a central point of coordination between designers, clients, and contractors to ensure that health and safety considerations are properly embedded within the design process.
Our CDM service is delivered alongside — but clearly distinct from — our Principal Designer (Building Regulations) role under the Building Safety Act, ensuring full compliance with both regulatory regimes without overlap or confusion.
Our CDM Principal Designer Services Include:
• Advising clients on their duties under CDM 2015
• Planning, managing, and monitoring the pre-construction phase
• Identifying and eliminating design-related health and safety risks
• Preparing and reviewing Pre-Construction Information (PCI)
• Coordinating designers to ensure risk information is shared
• Reviewing design risk assessments and method statements
• Liaison with Principal Contractors during transition to construction
• Ensuring the Health & Safety File is properly compiled
